RODI question

Hi all, so I just received my RODI from BRS yesterday. I bought the Value Plus unit. I have a question... the TDS meter. Measures Total Dissolved Solids. I get that. What I'm wondering about is the In/Out. Assuming Out is the TDS of the water I'll be putting in the tank. And the In is the tap water TDS.

If that's correct, I'm a bit surprised... my In appears to measure 1 TDS. I turn on the unit, let it run for a bit, then turn on the TDS with the switch to In, and it says, clear as day, 001. I'm on city water, which admittedly is pretty good in general, but 001 doesn't seem possible.

Am I wrong in any of my assumptions?

Thx!

if there is just 1 meter, it's typically placed before and after the DI... so in your case the "In" would be the output of your membrane, and "Out" is your final water TDS as you mentioned.

So I'm pretty sure that you are measuring 1 for the post membrane TDS (which is really good), and it should be 0 coming out of the DI.

This will help monitor the performance of your membrane and the final water.

Depends on where the meter is taking it's reading. To me it sounds like "in" is post membrane and "out" is post DI.

Thx for the info!

I just took a look at the wiring, and that seems to jive with what everyone is saying. I'm really curious to know what my actual Tap is, but not really interested in rewiring everything to find it!

You can order an inexpensive TDS meter from ebay for $10-20 and have it at hand (good investment).

You could just disconnect one of the TDS probes and the hose going into your system and attach the probe to it and turn on your water. Let the water flow out of the probe into a bucket for a minute and see what it reads. then just connect it back up. That would tell you what your incoming TDS is.
