RODI Question

All - I bought a used 24 GPD (I think) Kent Maxxima from a fellow reefer. He said it needed a new filter but I can't find directions anywhere for this device.

So question is what should I replace, and where can I get it? It it helps the flow is horrible on the thing. I might get 10 GPD now... might.

Replacement filters can be had from any of the Reef Central sponsors that deal in RO/DI units. As you have found the low GPD units are painfully slow especially in winter with lower water temperatures and if you have less than 50 or 60 psi pressure. You would be better off replacing that membrane (if it needs replacing) with a 75 GPD Dow Filmtec membrane and flow restrictor. This will make water at least 300% faster than what you have today and at the same 98% rejection rate even the 24 were working at its full potential. Did you get a TDS meter with the purchase, thats really the only way to tell if the membrane needs replacing. If the rejection rate is say less than 95% or so its probably time to replace.
As for prefilters and carbon blocks they should be changed every 6 months. DI resin if you have DI is dependent on how much you make and the quality of the RO water entering it.
