RODI Station Pump Recommendation..

I have a basement RODI station in the process of being set up. I need a pump that will push water upstairs to the main floor for me during water changes. I have an ATO set up to pull water up.

The total head from the basement to my tank will be around 10 feet. The total run through the basement and up will be around 50 feet. After looking at some numbers I think a Mag 9.5 will do the job and is affordable.

Any advice?

you could plumb the return of the RODI up there and have it run of and ATO with a solenoid into a smaller bucket 5gals then have that with a small maxijet pump into the tank. A mag 9.5 prob isn't strong enough to carry the water over 10 feet of head but i'm not sure.

Thanks Justin,

I have no space at all to have my RODI pump it upstairs. My whole RODI station has to stay in the basement. I just need to find a way to avoid the lugging f buckets up and down. I will have a ATO using a Litermeter to pull the water up from the basement.

According to the Danner website, the Mag 9.5 should pump over 200 gph at 12' so it should be able to do it.

Not sure how I will plumb this and what I will use for hose. Does anyone use garden hose? Vinyl and not rubber of course.

I posted a question similar to this. I found a mag 24 here for a good price. They said not to use a garden hose so I bought 50 ft of 1" FlexPVC at Savko.

sfboarders,

Do you coil it up each time or is it set in place? Maybe I could use 1" flex PVC for some of the length then use a reducer or something and use some 1/2" tubing. I dont need 1" the whole way. I know this may hamper the pump flow a bit but it is simply to top up 5-10 gallons max every couple of weeks. Maybe even once a month.

Just not sure how to mate say 3/4" Spaflex with a smaller tubing. Even a ring clamp may do the trick.

Please help a pathetic plumber. lol

Can you plumb your rodi using the 1/4" line up to the tank then fillup buckets next to your tank? In my old apartment I had my RODI on the 1st floor bathroom and used a 50foot 1/4" line up the stairs when i did water changes. I kept a bucket with an ATO and solenoid and plugged in the 1/4" line into the solenoid and mixed the salt next to the tank. It only took me a couple hours or so to fill the bucket.

1" spa flex line would be expensive. they do make some 1/2" or 3/4 clear line that would be cheaper if you wanted to go that route. I would keep the hose the same length throughout the line though

No room at all upstairs for mixing cans. I think I will go 1/2" but I need to find the right hose. I would prefer to have one long length so I need to find a place that cuts it.
