RODI TDS not at 0

So I installed my RODI last night. I've dumped 2 tanks. About 6 gallons. My TDS reading is at 16 ppm. I bought distilled water to make sure the tester is accurate and the distilled water is 0 ppm. Will it come down or is this the best I'm gonna get? This is the third time I'm dumping and it is still at 16 ppm. The tap water is reading at 179 ppm.

Sounds like tap water is bypassing something. Is it a used unit? Even if your mem was shot fresh DI will clean it unless its shot or not packed correctly. Who did you buy it from? Take it back or call their support.

yep.. either hooked up wrong and you are reading the output of the RO stage and not after the DI or there is no DI filter in there or its not packed properly and the water is just rushing right past it (<-- I find that hard to believe)
or the DI cartridge isn't fully seated or something

If you have two carbon you could replace the final stage with the standard replaceable DI insert. Much less trouble and not $50. Sounds like you have 2 sediment, 2 carbon, and a membrane. You could e-mail Apec about this. More than likely if you have 2 carbon one is a smaller micron which is the one you need to put before the DI.

Stage 5 is a smaller housing that sits on top horizontal. Do they make di cartridges that will fit that?

Usually the horizontal unit on top is your RO membrane. Check the manual. You will probably need to get the separate DI chamber.

There are 2 on top. The membrane and that coconut carbon. The other 2 carbon and sediment are in the bigger vertical housings

Honestly, you have the wrong system. Go on the BRS site and see the difference. You have a drinking water system and it was not cheap and now you have to modify it for this Hobby. Maybe they'll take it back. I'd call.

I've seen horizontal DI resin installations that look like RO membranes, but again your changing the design of an expensive system. Heard they don't work well however. If the DI from BRS works that may be the way to go. I'd check with BRS. They have great support.

I'll have to check on that brs. The guy at apec said the add on will make it rodi. I have to stick with my 16ppm water for start up. Already got the live rock and no one around here has 0ppm water
