RODI water quality

I asked around about this several months ago, but now have more information.

I get less than 100gal of top off water out of my filters. It is an air, water, and ice 5 stage unit. My DI resin depletes at a normal rate. I was using well water. I thought I was getting a build up of some kind of bacteria. Now I have switched to city water and get the same filter life. I know it is the filters because my coral will quit opening all the way. Then I will notice a rotten egg smell in my top off water.

Any guesses?

Sounds like you've got some kind of dead spot in one of your filters. Something is being bypassed somehow. The rotten egg smell is a dead giveaway, only happens in anoxic conditions with very low flow.

Other than that, I have no idea. Do you have a lot of sulfur in your well water? Take a sample to the health department and ask them to analyze it.

water co. is Knox Chapman.

Not a lot of sulfur in either. I know the well water has high dkh. I figure the city water does too.

How can you get a dead spot in a RO unit? What can I look for?

Oh yea, I sent a sample to Air Water Ice. They said it was because of the hardness of the water, but 100gl? really?
