Rod's Food?

One of the LFS that always rips people off says to buy Rod's Food for my B&W Clownfish pair. It is the most expensive they have. $10 for like a 4oz pack, and $20 for a 16oz pack. Should I but some? What is in it? Anyone have good experiences? Does it help them to breed? :love2:
It if is best, then I guess I could sell some of my Tubbs Blue Zoanthids since they are considered "rare" or whatever.

I was a bit weery of the food to begin with, but now I wouldnt even think of not including it in my feeding regime. Its good stuff , and 20 bucks is what I get the big pack for.

I highly doubt there are any negative comments on Rod's food. Its simply the best and clowns love it. $20 is normal for the large pack

I use 3 types of it -- red, blue and green label. All of my clowns love it, in addition all the other fish love it too.

If we actually tried to replicate Rod's Food, we would honestly fail. It is far too expensive to buy all the ingredients. That is not including our elbow grease. For $20 a pack you really cant go wrong. It lasts a pretty long time as well. :)

OK thanks. Hopefully with a diet of live brine, mysis, Rod's, spirulina enriched frozen brine, and marine cuisine they will be so healthy that they will just HAVE to breed. :)

That is not a bad price at all.....keep with it, they will be breeding soon. The brine is also so rich in protein that should help things along also. Good luck and keep up posted!

Rods food is the best i feed the orginal the pacific phytoplanton and the fish eggs and thats all i feed and my fish are fat and happy. My percs lay eggs around every 10 days to.

Well I already have all the food I mentioned, but I'll use Rod's at a staple. However I won't feed it all the time. When I used to get sick my mom would give me rice to "bind" waste. I puke every time I eat white rice now.

I just bought rods food today it was 8.99 for the small pack. I tried it and the fish were a little thrown off and my biggest clown at 3+ inches had trouble with a large chunk of something but other than that, I like the variety of the food in there. I was just wondering why or what the ingredient ash is and why it is included?

btw, that one of rod's onyx in my avatar

Awesome clown. Very beautiful. I have a 1" female just like it, and a .5" jet black male with orange on all of his fins. They are awesome... :D

I went today to my LFS that I don't like so much. I got $20 of live rock to complete my structure in my 14g, and I also grabbed the big pack of Rod's food for $21.99, along with 1,000 or so live brine shrimp to feed my greedy B&W Ocellaris pair over the next week or so. However I did forget to get some hermit crabs and snails for my 14g, so I'll get like 4 snails and 6 hermit crabs for my 14g tomorrow. I'll let all of you know how the Rod's goes by with the clowns, and maybe post some pictures of the 14g if anyone wants to see how it is going.

Well I tried feeding the Rod's to my little Onyx/SI True Percs and most of it was too large for them. I fed it to my B&W Ocellaris which are basically full grown adults. The male picked at it and ate some, but the female (being a pig) ate everything except the lettuce stuff. They like live brine waaaay better and it is waaaay cheaper.

How do you go about feeding them? my baby percs at 2cm long eat everything. I put a small piece of the food in a small cup with water from the tank, let it defrost in there so it breaks up into small pieces and feed it to them with a turkey baster
