Roggers Reef Food

I just got my order in this afternoon, fast shipping, great packaging. I tried good sized amount in the mesh feeding clip that he provided, although the suction cup idea doesn't really work in my tank, so i used a zip tie to move it around one of the legs of my lighting fixture. After the fish got over the initial intrusion to their space..they absolutely demolished that stuff. I really like the idea of letting them feed at their own leisure.

Great stuff, looked extremely fresh, didn't really see a need to rinse the food, and it didn't cloud up my water... I feel like I will end up ordering more of this stuff in the future.

good quality, my LFS owner saw him making it and said he didn't cut corners...I don't like the texture of it though...prefer rod's where it immediately breaks into different sizes, leads to a feeding frenzy for all in the tank

I have fed rods before, and yes the whole tank goes crazy, everything eats it, loves it. I like how the roggers stays inside the mesh though, and it seems like I am not going to have to worry about wasted food fouling the tank. One issue I just noticed, it has been about 2 hours since I added the food and my skimmer is going nuts, large large bubbles going all the way up the column, I had to lower the water level significantly in order to keep the cup from overflowing after a few minutes. Hopefully my skimmer will get used to this food, and this won't be necessary in the future.

Best on the market IMO.. No filler at all.. I have heard from my LFS that Rod's has bogus fillers in it which would never exist in the sea....

I stopped using rods when I heard of fish choking on exoskeletons, I still like their reef food one, but since just used reef-roids. Skimmer finally calmed down, I made need to leave it off for a few hours after initially putting this stuff in, im thinking its the aloe

I use both Rods original and both Roggers too!!!

They attack both equally hard. I cut Roggers up and I like the way it is like a cotton ball and doesn't melt away. Cutting your current on Rods will help that until the majority is gone then the current will take the unseen to the unseen!

I usually just thawed it in a glass of tank water and let then frenzy begin, still though once I heard of peoples fish choking, i quit using it, I still don't get why there was carrots and stuff like that in there. Skimmer really seems to have calmed down, I really hope I don't have to keep turning the skimmer off every time I feed it, otherwise I'm finally going to have to get an apex or something to turn the skimmer on remotely a few hours later

Rogger's food is great stuff. I don't have a clip so I let it thaw and break it up. The fish love it and to be honest my fingers smell so good after. Garlic and fresh seafood have a very nice smell. I think the binder is Aloe Vera, so it is natural.

I intend to get the clip because I've been told I am not taking advantage of the purpose of the food's purpose.

And Rogger is a REALLY nice man!

Woke up this morning, skimmer is calmed down, and the food was totally gone, and I packed the thing pretty well. I'm gone all day so I can't begin timing to determine how long the skimmer needs to be off after introducing the food. When I get home though I will start trying at 30 minutes intervals. Lowering and raising my water level is simply too annoying for me to do every day, plus my skimmer neck would be very filthy every day.

Unless somebody has a different idea?

From my research I have only ever seen or heard of one account of a fish "choking" on Rod's and that was a guy on Marine Depots website writing a review, saying it choked his PBT, do you have any other accounts? I feed Rod's and have never had any issues. I wonder how he even determined that was the cause of death. Sounds kind of sketchy.

it could have been the same account on multiple places, it was a year ago when I was going around on the web and I found an account, then googled rods killed my fish, and found it in multiple places. It wouldn't shock me though if it was the same guy putting out the angry memo in different places. If I remember right the accounts were mostly about tangs choking.

ah ok well something to be cautious of I suppose.

thats exactly how i decide, I found a few exoskeletons in the food, i found it hard to believe that a fish could choke...but then again I like being careful.

Also I just started skimmer testing tunring it on at 30 minute intervals to detemrine when it is safe to resume skimming after adding this food. Fish are still demolishing the entire mesh bag

Why would would rod add carrots to the food ?????? Really does anyone know? I think becasue its cheaper than fresh seafood... IMO

Rogger from Roggers Reef Food did a demonstration for our local club (ORCA) hear in Orlando at a meeting six months ago. It's all fresh seafood with no fillers what so ever. It's the only thing I feed to my reef and everything in it loves it.
