Hello everyone just wanted to post some pictures and info on my tank so i can see what people think and maybe some recommendations. To start off this tank is a transfer i did from a 12 gal nano that is had started in May 2010. I transferred everything including some live sand, all the live rock, water and inhabitants and also added some more cured live rock and live sand. the transfer went great and didnt get any spikes and everything adjusted fast and looked happy and healthy. the tank has been running now since August 2010, and since the transfer and everything has been doing better then ever. I also recently did an LED retro with the nanotuner 5.6 led kit and it makes the tank look beautiful. This setup is now a little over 1year old.

What is the coral in the lower left?

I think I'm going to get some Rics next (yours looks cool... any closeups?)... do you have them on an island for a reason? Are they aggressive?

the McCoskers is also on my wish list for fish.

the coral on the lower left is an open brain coral, one of my favorites!

the rics are on an island because when i originally got my first rics they came on the island. the island came with the 2 orange and green rics which split into 4 then i just started adding the other rics that i would by to the island as well because i thought i looked nice lol

How many pounds of live rock did you put in your system? I'm getting conflicting amounts that we should be using. I just started a JBJ 28 LED and used 25 Ibs of LR from my 120 reef. Thanks

i have about 30 pounds and its worked great for me. ive heard anywhere for 25-40 should be sufficient, im hinking of adding a bit more in the back corners for some more coral placement .

Pics of New Cherry Moon Blasto, and Superman Monti and also a pick of my last remaining Friutloops zoa after the colony got zoa pox, looks like it might survive!

need help with placement of the big leather its causing a big shadow that already completely wiped out my GSP. any ideas?

Your tank is gorgeous...I think let the stuff behind that beautiful toadstool fill in the back some, and you're tank is deserving of nToTM. I love that little Fruitloop zoa. Zoas are expensive here, so I don't have many zoas... let alone uncommon ones.

One part of me questions that toadstool in the front... It looks like the biggest coral, and it hides all the corals in the back. That birdsnest will branch out and show, but will the green toadstool? Or you could try moving the toadstool back some, so the others can show from a front view. Then again, if that toadstool in the front grows taller, then it won't be a problem..

The other part of me says since you can see all the corals from the sides, you can just leave it. And that your tank looks perfect. I personally am a fan of looking closer at tanks,(nose pressed to the glass, that whole deal) to see things "differently" than they look at a first glance.. if you know what I mean. :spin1:

thanks for the compliment, i love zoas they are my favorite coral. i just received some blue hornets and a couple of other zoa frags, i should have the pictures up later this week.

the tan toadstool was actually my firs coral ever! i got it when i had my original salt water tank a 12 gal nano that later transferred into this about a year ago. it was only a 1 inch frag when i purchased it now its about 6''(not anymore) and the green one was also about 1 inch frag when i purchased it a year ago now 4"(not any more).

yesterday i decided to go ahead and frag both toadstools, i got 5 frags from each, i got one frag from each stalk, and 4 frags from each head. everything looks good today and all the heads opened up there polyps. i also moved both toadstool towards the back rite corner and it actually looks pretty nice. i aslo added 3 pounds of live cured rock to the scape to make some more space for some sps frags.

will post a new fts later

they should be ready for sale in about a month or so from what ive read, so if you where in the south florida area you would me more then welcome to have one

Nah, I'm in TN. But thanks anyways.

I love the Candy Cane; how long have you had it? Is your YWG personable? I have one with my pistol shrimp, and it's still scared of me.

Ive had the candy cane for about a year now. it was given to me by a friend breaking down his tank and had 6 heads and has grown to over 20+ heads. the YWG is very personable, he dug himself his home at the very front the tank and sits by it all day protecting it from any other fish lol. he also likes picking up my snails and moving them away when they get to close to his home lol
