Hello all. After 17 years since owning my last reef tank I ‘am finally in a position that I can jump in again. Please forgive my ignorance as the last time I kept a reef aquarium was when wet dry systems were still in the main stream and bare bottom tanks were the way to go. Now I must say I was extremely successful with those techniques in maintaining soft corals but I never had the growth that I have seen while reading these forums over the last couple of months. Nor did I even think of trying my hand at some of the more difficult stony corals that I see in these threads.
Well to the build. I am still in the equipment planning stages and have many things to decide on but I figure this would be the best way to start.
This is what I have decided on so far:
Tank: Aqueon (AGA) 210 gallon aquarium
Skimmer: Vertex Alpha 200
Calcium Reactor: Vertex Rx6 DUO
Return Pump: Iwaki (Still need to size)
Lighting: 3x 250w 10K MH and 4x 5’ VHO actinic. (Lighting is still under heavy debate but I do not want to venture in LED’s just yet.)
The rest is still being tossed around.
Any input on the items listed above will be greatly appreciated.
