Rose anemone for sale

Heya Rich. I was thinking of getting one but not until I get a replacement ballast for my halide. Let me know if you have trouble getting rid of it and I'll pick it up from ya.

Shawn,
Give me a ring. I may be able to help you out with the lights. I just set up a frag tank and so I'm not using that 150 DE you saw on the sump. ;)

Its all you, Ray.
I figure I'd just spend the cash and get an Icecap ballast. That wont happen for a couple weeks I think. Gotta pay a speeding ticket. Hehe. I think it will be worth it in its benefits despite the price. I appreciate the offer, though. Thanks!
How's that magnet workin for ya, BTW?

sarwa: My understanding is that you need quite a bit of strong light for them. Maybe if you had a lot of PCs but I'm guessing no. I could be wrong, though.

Ray: Good. I was thinking your tank would be a bit too thick for it. I may hit you up for a bulb later (most likely just for a color test), when I get this ballast thing sorted out. Thanks!

Can I have RBTA just using compact lights

Yes, if your water quality is very clear, you have enough wattage, your tank is not too deep and you feed them regularly. BTAs and LTAs are really the only photosynthetic anemones that can be under PCs.

I keep a very large and healthy rose under 4x65w PC's (half 03 actinic and half 10k), at about 18" of depth. This is, however, the exception. I target feed once a week plus lots of food in the tank so she can capture any small bits she wants all week. I also run fresh carbon 24/7 so my water is VERY clear and not yellow at all.

She's growing steadily but refuses to split. Grrrr.

That is odd Nicole. I don't feed my RTBA at all and that is the only thing that keeps it from splitting. I recently started feeding formula 2 cubes and didn't cut the first couple of cubes into small enough pieces the first couple of times, so my clown took the biggest piece it could find and shoved it into the anemone. I had a split a few days later. Does your RTBA have a clown?

Well, the tank has clowns, but they prefer their frogspawn and never look at the anemone. Figures.

Mine is plenty big enough to take the cubes and then some. I feed prime reef cubes right now since my fish hated it, but I'll go back to the cheaper chunks of mixed seafood when those play out. The tentacles are 5-6" long and when full open, he's about 10" across the disc. Usually his disc is kinda folded over in ripples, like a yellow leather but not that pronounced. Recently he's had a big growth spurt, which may be related to me increasing my Alk.

I think the higher Alk definately agrees with him. I used to have to push the food well into the tentacles, but last night it barely touched a tentacle and she wrapped around it like a boa constrictor! Very cool.

If I want to keep her, a few more corals have to go... I think the favias are next; it's about the only thing left not attached to a giant rock.
