Rose anemone

Do rose anemone's wander a lot? I'd love to have one as I think they are beautiful, but I don't want them to sting all of the corals in the tank. Would I bet better off not buying an anemone and sticking with corals or would it be ok to have both? Are there any anemones that look good and may be better for me?

They can wander around quite a bit until they find a place they like, as often as not out of view somewhere. Mine eventually grew back into view- stinging is a problem, but can be dealt with if you have enough real estate in the tank to give them berth. Doing it over again, I'd stick with one or the other- not a great mix ime. good luck-

WHen resetting up our 90g after the move, we decided we wanted a rose and a cool looking Neon Tipped BTA. So when aqauscaping, we made an island. We call it our anemone island. This island has at least a 3" parameter around the entire island that does not touch anything else...such as glass or other LR.

This way, we have at least one area we feel is protected in case they decid to travel.

And speaking of travelling... Last week, my BTA travelled down the LR to the very edge, then around to the back, made his way inside one of the tunnels the gobies helped clear out ... and ended up in the very same spot I placed him when we first got him!

Guess he liked my choice of location, afterall! :)

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I just like the rose anemone because it isnt the standard light brown or white anemone. I like the idea of an island but I have to see how my LR shapes up. The anemone will stay on the island? If that works that'd be phenominal!

Yep, lemme show you a picture::: (Just taken)

(This view only shows approx 1/3 of our tank)

It's a little deceiving as the island does NOT touch any of the other LR.

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do!

Thats awesome. Why doesnt it leave the island? Haha i know this sounds like a reality show but I am amazed at this. If this is the case with this anemone I will just line the back and side wall with LR and put a medium sized straight piece right into the middle.

Shortly after I put my rbta in the tank he let go of the bottom and floated (I have plenty of current) around bounced off glass twice then found a place in back corner. He has not moved since he landed 8 months ago.
