Rose Anemone

I just recently bought a rose anemone and he seems to be doing well. I woke up after the first night and hes kind of at the back of tank under rocks. Should I be worried about it? Do you think he will come back out after he finishes adjusting to the tank? Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.

It could be adjusting to it's new environment or it could be stressed and splitting....give it some time to see what happens.

Yeah thats what I kind of thought, do you guys know about how long it takes for them to "adjust" or "reach for light"....a couple days? or couple weeks?....It's just my first nem and not to sure what to expect.

I have had a few rbta's. From what I have experienced, it takes about a week or so for the nem to start its normal routine. they usually move around a bit until they find the sweet spot (prepare to move coral you like). I have always bet on "a week and a water change" before it was fully acclimated. Despite what some people think, nems are tough and as long as your tank isnt a cesspool, it should be fine by this time next week.

BTW, my rbta's have always taken silver sides very well. GOOD LUCK!

Yeah I figured, I did it backwards. Tank is full of coral and now I added a nem that will move around which sounds like a dumb move, but I have always loved rose anemones and just decided to pull the trigger one buying one. Just wish I added him first so he could settle in and place corals around him. Thanks for all the help guys

I added my first nem after coral as well. Luckily it liked where I put it.

I was in the same situation. Added a RBTA after corals. It hid for 2 or 3 days and when it finally came out there were 2. Since then it has split 2 more times so now I have 4 in my tank. At some point I'll need to get a couple out as they are winning the battle against some of my SPS.

Give it some time and all will be well.

Yeah I tend to worry about coral warfare, though my reef is mostly lps dominated I still worry about my more prized pieces. Just going to watch it carefully and move pieces as I see fit. The color of these anemones is really nice, hopefully I will not regret the descion.

Just an update...my rose anemone is still in the exact same spot he went to, towards the back and under a rock...my worry is there is no way of light getting to it. Should I be worried, its been about 5 days? Or am I just being overly nervous? Should I try to bring him out? Everything I have read says no. Thanks for the help..

I started with one and now i have 5 , they will move to a comfort zone when there ready.
I no it's a pain with them moving (mine are all over the place) but no signs of warfare.
It will work its way out soon ,If not just put a powerhead near it and it will move(they don't like hi current) mine was upsidedown and not getting light for almost 2 weeks and its doing good .Watch for them going into mp40's or powerheads.. good luck
