well my new rose BTA clone is moving all over and I am getting concerned it will happen into a coral or something. it can't seem to find a place it likes so I am thinking I would like to sell the extra clone. anyone interested? I am thinking something like $45 or $50. it is in great shape, very healthy and bright, just in a mobile mode right now and the other BTA has the only good spot in the tank. anyone interested let me know...I am over on the east side of the city on the border of East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights

I'm interested in a BTA.. How big is it? I'm looking for a smaller one. I'm just south of cleveland 15 mins.

Thanks!

rbta

rbta

Yeah... I bought a rbta recently. He finally found a good spot to wedge his foot in the rocks. I had to move some of the corals away from him because he was stinging them. Very cool thing to watch. I feed him 1/4 of a raw shrimp soaked in one drop of garlic once a week. The RBTA closes up on it, opens, and there's nothing left :) He's getting really big... about the size of a dinner plate when open full. My Percula Clowns like to hang out in the RBTA. Great addition to a tank, adds color, a little movement etc...

i would say it is of medium size, the thing is it varies from day to day. Most of the time it's about the size of a soft ball, but at times it expands to a slighty larger size. It is by no means huge, it is much smaller than the parent from which it divided itself. I think the only reason mine is moving so much is that the one area in the tank that it would really like to be is already dominated by the other BTA. If you are interested I will PM you my phone #, just call me and we can set something up.

I figure about the time you think the RBTA is too big for your tank... it'll split. Then you can follow BigDaddy's lead and post the clone here. My RBTA is one of my most prized things in my tank. Awesome color. The tips "glow" bright pinkish red when the halides shut off under actinics. I use a riser tube to direct the raw shrimp pieces to the center of the RBTA. It's fun to watch him chow. Big Daddy is offering this animal for about half price vs. LFS. I recommend this addition to a nice reef tank. Just watch your corals until he finds a place to find home. Mine stung a coral or two. I moved one coral and it healed up nice.

Hey Bigdaddy,

I'm kinda new so the question might be offbase. I have 2 clowns and was looking for a RBTA. When looking, I have read that some of the newer ones are coming from Singapore (the "Chinese" RBTAs) and the supposedly have less color and are more prone to move around. Do you know where yours came from?

Interested in RBTA. Will you ship to Kansas City?

sorry, I don't think I want to bother with the hassle of shipping a live animal at this point, by the time you figure in shipping costs, extra money for the hassle, the mortality rate of shipped animals, you really would be better off looking at a Kansas City LFS in my opinion.

as for where it came from, I have no idea, but it is very colorful...I have had it for almost 3 years, so if the Singapore connection is newer than that I guess you may be able to rule it out.

as far as why its moving around so much, my guess is because it is trying to find a comfortable place. I have rather high lighting and high flow in some areas as well. the other BTA is in the best place in the tank as far as protection from too high a flow and also the only really decent spot where it won't get too much light...since the other BTA is dominating that spot, the clone just keeps moving, trying to find a good spot. he isn't neccissarily moving a great distance, he keeps going in circles, the problem is that the area where he is at is very near some corals that may sting or be stung by him...so far that hasn't happened, but it worries me, and I have too many corals to keep moving them out of the way...if the BTA had a spot to go to with decent flow, not too much light, where it could get snug and not threaten the corals then all would be well, but that's not the case so that's why I am trying to sell it.

bump bump bump, still available and in a good spot to get it out of the tank right now. pm me and I will send you my phone #, available any time this weekend. I need to get this guy to a new home before he gets himself in a weird place again where I can't get him out, or gets into a powerhead.

actual photo of the anemone before it split, looks just like this, except a little more bubbly and a bit smaller
