Rose Bubble Tip Not Looking Good

Hi All,

I'm have a pretty new Red Sea Reefer 250. I finished cycling and Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates have been at zero. It was probaly a bit early but I added a Rose Bubble Tip Anenome yesterday. It seemed to like a spot in the front of the tank and settled there at night. When I fed the fish I feed it a mess shrimp.

This AM I could not see it anywhere in the tank and I looked a bunch. After work I found him on a big rock in the back of the tank. He has shrunk to about 1/3 of the size it was yesterday and is very closed up.

Is this thing doomed or are there things I can do to save it? The tank is 4 weeks old.

I have a more established tank in my office and was wondering if I should try transporting there. I didn't know if the stress of a new tank would be worse than leaving it where it is. Any thoughts?

General rule of thumb is you should wait several months for your tank to mature before adding anemone
Are you certain the tank has finished cycling?
Can you post your parameters here
I seriously think you should move the anemone to your other tank as the chances of survival in this one are slim.
I waited ten months before adding my rbta

Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 0
Alkalinity dkh 8.7
PH 8.2
Phosphate 0
Calcium 430
Salinity 1.025
Temp 77.2

I will try to move tomorrow. I hope it recovers. Is there any chance that if it's been stressed it could be releasing toxins that can harm my office tank? I don't have a QT and have a healthy system in the office.

A moving anemone is one which is not happy with its situation
Is the anemone expelling any zooxanthelae or look like it is pooping
I am nowhere near an expert on this subject, I am learning just like you are, and really hope some of the experienced guys see this post and advise.
I hope you are able to move the anemone to your other tank.

I did find what looked like 2 big piles of poop on the sand in the tank. Was that from the BTA?

Important question - is there any risk to my other tank if I move this? That's a smaller tank (32G LED Biocube) and I have some healthy and pricey fish in it.

What would I need if I want to setup a QT for the BTA to see if it makes it?

just my .02, Nitrates should register before you add anything. Nitrates are the second to last step in the Nitrogen cycle, the last being nitrogen off-gassing, so a cycled tank should have barely readable amounts. I know, I just accidentally kicked off a mini-cycle trying to get my nitrates under control. Secondly, was the anemone curled up because it was unhappy, or because it was digesting the meal you fed it? I'm assuming from your last pot that it died so the former seems more likely at this point.
