Rose Bubble Tip shrinking

Can anyone tell me what would cause my 4 rose bubble tips to shrink and change a light/fluorescent pink any white color? They were 2 and were getting quite large, id say close to 8 inches across for both and then they both spilt, now they are very small about an inch across each and a very different color.

Any changes in water parameters? Mine did the same thing when my heater broke and spiked the temp into the low 90s.
