Their prices are higher than other as they are considered more exotic/valuable.

other? meaning GBTAs?

Yes, my bad posting.

Compared to Green Bubble Tips and Long Tentacle 'nems, Rose Bubble Tips are considered more exotic.

For example, I know several local reefers who are holding out for a RBTA vs. getting a GBTA for their tank.

supply and demand. Not many wholesaler stock them or are they commonly wild collected. Most are splits from hobbiest so if you are looking for an affordable one try looking for one locally. Cheapest one I saw locally was $50.

+1 on that. Clones are almost always stronger than reef collected species.

I find it better to wait on a frieds RBTA to split and trade for corals/fish/equiptment ect. They look so much better and have a larger succsses rate other than wild caught ones.

So how much are you all paying for a RBTA? The market among local reefers here in the DC metro area is pretty flooded with RBTA. There are several of us that have been farming them for years now. Three RBTA just sold on our club's forum for $35ea!

My recommendation is to get one and then farm it out. If more experienced reefers did this the price would drop drastically. Let the anemone pay for your hobby.

that's a ripoff...I dunno why rose bubble tips are still keeping high prices, it seems like everywhere you look peoples roses are spliting. It's definitely worth getting one that split from a tank, I had a green one from the wild and a rose that was aquacultured and the rose was much hardier.

when mine splits i think i need to go to austin and sell it there lol

There is a rose at my lfs for $100

Buy it from fellow reefers. They're mostly always bigger in size & healthier...DON'T buy it from LFS unless you plan on spending $100+ on one that is 3"-5"...if you're patient enough you can get'em for as low as $30...or as others have stated...for a couple pieces of frags from your tank...

I'm not trying to say don't support your LFS...it's just a better bargain to buy it from a local reefer instead...just my .02...

in the Cleveland area i can't find them for less than $100-$120

wish i knew someone in my area to buy there spits from :(
