rotifers feedings

In a way, but you don't want to hinder the water movement. That's why I leave the middle open, and the bottom as well.

Once I overdid it with the dead stuff, and I got smelly dead rotifers.
Mine smell to broccoli:D

I get a fair rots production when keeping them together with decaying macroalgae and applying occasional squirts of baker's yeast solution. The pungent smell reminds me of my childhood back in good old ........ wherever, some place in Europe, where in spring farmers used to spread liquid cattle waste throughout their land. You had either be a smart fella or a seasoned fart smella to withstand the odor.:eek1:

What is the best way to enrich the rotifers for feeding? I have AlgaMac to enrich mine with for feeding to baby seahorses. I should have babies sunday so I need to enrich some tomorrow night. I currently have my rotifers growing in a 10 gallon. I am only wanting to enrich an amount for a days feeding.

You sure the fry will take them? Mine go from copepods to very NHBS. They let the rots pass by. Won't even give them a second look. But I can only speak for H. ingens and it is my second batch, which could be a rightous wrong generalisation. Maybe the experts could chime in.

As for enrichment, gut loading for 4 -12 hours is OK. Very important is rinsing before feeding to keep H2O params up.

I have kudas. My 1st batch of babies died. I didnt have any rotifers ready so i tried nhbbs and they wouldnt take it. I was told that the nhbbs were probably to large for the babies. I even tried reef bugs and cyclop and they wouldnt take it so I figured I would try the rotifers since that is what everyone said to try. This is our 1st time using rotifers. I syphon out like 2 gallons each night. I was told that if i rinse the rotifers in freshwater it will kill them. I knew to rinse the nhbbs.
