rotifers

In case there is nobody closer to you, I am culturing rotifers and am looking to attend the DIY LED Workshop in September (anyone know which day it is being held?). :)

How come you're culturing rotifers?
I'm in Walnut Creek, so sort of curious to visit and see how you're doing it.

As Aquanut (thanks!) mentioned, I am maintaining rotifer cultures for clownfish larvae. You are definitely welcome to come by to take a look! Previously I was culturing in 4-gallon buckets, but recently converted to a setup using serveral smaller water pitchers. If you would like rotifers to start your own culture, I have plenty to spare when there are no hungry mouths to feed. :)

I understand the date of the WCR DIY LED Workshop is tentative, but if you are interested in breeding fish, you should definitely consider attending BAR's Breeding and Propagation Workshop on October 13th at Chabot College. Tal Sweet of MBI will be there to talk about marine fish breeding, and Rich Ross of Steinhart Aquarium will be performing live coral fragging demonstrations. Official announcement to come shortly. :)

If you need rotifers sooner rather than later, please feel free to come by and I'll get you started. Do you already have phyto, either live or concentrated? Which fishes are you looking to breed?

Wow you are way ahead of me if you intend to breed mandarins. :) Pelagic spawners are a whole different game. Have you done some research to see what you might need in addition to rotifers (i.e., copepod nauplii)?

You are definitely welcome to come by - let's work out a time by PM. My pitiful breeding setup is incredibly simple and shows how easy breeding certain marine species can be.
