rotifers?

Anyone know a local source for live rotifers? My clowns eggs are close to hatching and I need some roti's to feed these babies.

If there is a LFS near you, they can order some from Reed Mariculture (Reef-Nutrition) HTH

In San Francisco. I expect the hatching to take place in the next 2 to 3 days. I will feed phyto for the first 3 days but will need rotifers by mid to end of week I assume.

you will need rotifers right off the bat. You can co-culture with Phyto and Rotifers but they will need rots for the first 4-7 days then BBS. It might be best to get your cultures going and then try the next batch of eggs, fresh cultures will not be able to keep up with the amount of rots you are going to need to keep the little guys fed.

Like Tyler said (a breeder worth listenning to ;) ) you are going to need rotifers a LOT sooner then the phyto. Greenwater just helps the larvae find the food as well as beign food for the rotifers. The fry do not eat phyto except what gets to it via the rotifers belly. I urge you to spend some time on the breeding forum here on RC, as well as www.marinebreeder.org and www.projectDIBS.com . You'll gain a lot of very usefull knowledge from those forums :)

They haven't hatched yet. I am trying to get rots started today of possible. Not easy to find over holiday weekend.

We couldn't get them to you till tomorrow, no way around that really. If we kept them at our office I would say buy them online and use "will call". We stopped stocking them at the office though as we rarely get those queries any longer.

FWIW almost all fish eggs hatch at night.

How do I get them from you tomorrow? I can probably work with that. Tonight marks day 8 of the spawning. They ought to hatch in the next few days I assume as the eyes are starting to turn silver.

Thanks Gresh!

What species of clown? I have noticed that almost all of mine have hatched on night #9 with a couple exceptions from time to time. You may want to get a very large starter culture if you intend to keep this spawning.

PS. www.marinebreeder.org is an AWESOME resource, good call Gresh!

Ha well they hatched tonight. By the time I realized it I was able to get 6 or so out of the main tank. I know that's a futile number to try so I put them in the refuge and figured they had the best chance there if any.

Now I can get geared of for the next batch.
