Royal Gramma has this spot....

Hi All,

I have a Royal Gramma and a Cherub Angel in my observation tank prior to adding to my DT. They've been in for a week and both are eating well. The Gramma disappeared in the live rock (per usual) for the first couple days and is now gradually showing himself. He has a lighter color spot on both sides behind his head. It almost looks like he scraped on the live rock? Breathing is normal, no flashing and eating well.
Any ideas??

Thanks!

Mine had something similar (plus white spots on the edges of his fins) when I introduced a starry blenny and she was being aggressive; he healed up once they settled their differences. Not sure if she did it to him or he scraped himself, but if yours is eating and behaving normally I would just keep monitoring.

Thanks Guys,
I'll monitor and hopefully it will heal. I'm reading the quarantine tank posts and deciding if I want to do some prevent treatments before I add them to the DT.

Yes keep an eye on it for infection. Since in your qt you could treat with melafix to ward off any bacterial infections. Or at least have something on hand to treat if needed.

Hard to tell from the pic but more than likely scrapes from darting into rock trying to get away from the cherub. My cherub is always chasing my gramma...and wrasse..and Blenny....and clowns:furious:

I just got a beautiful baby Cherub and have to replace two different royal grammas that were eaten by my emerald crab. I'm going to get a larger one My Cherub is only an inch long :D
