I have a twelve and a 7 gallon reef going.

1. My clownfish jumped out and I want to get a new fish. Can I put a Royal Gramma into my 12 gallon reef? How about a 7 gallon? (Alone, no other fish)

I have heard from some that you can and from others that this is not enough room.

I'd say it should be fine. They like a hiding spot to hang out in as home base. Not swimmers like a tang for instance

i personally wouldn't do it wonder why the clownfish jumped out ... to small maybe ok for small gobies but any other fish i would say 20 gallons or more

personally I wouldn't either. I can't imagine trying a 7 or 12 salt . A royal gramma doesn't need a lot of room?? I could be wrong though. Mine certainly venture far from his "nest" except at feeding time

a royal gramma would be fine in a 12 gallon i think...... as long as its the only fish im sure that should be suffiecent as long as you stay on top of water conditions and everything ;)

I'd stick with a goby for your 7g, but a gramma might be okay in the 12g.
donski - smaller tanks aren't as hard as you might think, they just take a little more supervision :D

i had a royal gramma in my 10gal with 2 other fish, but it was only for about 1 week untill i upgraded my tank. I would say that it would be ok in the 12 gal as long as you don't plan on adding any other fish.
