hey all.
well i have a 60g cube mixed reef and am wanting to add something other then my black and white ocellaris and 2 scarlet cleaners. my tank is 24x24x24 and i love the colors of the royal gramma...but every single one of my friends has one...and thats just not cool =)~ how do you guys feel about a bicolor psuedochromis or a or a purple stripe...purple / yellow but do ya think they are to aggressive for a 60g cube? will they attack the cleaner shrimp? i know most nothing attacks them because the clean...but what are your opinions?

Bi-color and Diadema pseudo's are just complete jerks in my opinion, I have had them both and they just bully other fish 24/7, unless the fish is a lot bigger then them. Ever thought of a Fairy wrasse...like an exquisite wrasse, solorensis, or are you set on a yellow and magenta colored fish?

black-cap basslet, shy at first and need a crack or cave to sleep in, but once acclimated they will defend themselves but usually not attack other things. (IME). I have had one in my tank with a starkii damsel for quite awhile, the pair has worked out great, they do not mess with eachother (not recommending the starkii, they are fairly docile for a damsel, but still a damsel and a 50/50 shot of getting a terror). The black-cap gets larger than alot of other magenta colored fish also (but not too big).

I wouldnt trust them with the shrimp. dpending on how mature your system is, perhaps a mandarin goby? they are very colorful and wont compete with the clowns for food or territory. I cant imagine a reef without one

orchid dottyback/fridmani pseudochromis are great fish, I have had one for a year now, it has been a real joy to have in my tank.

My springeri pseudo attacked peppermint and cleaner shrimp - ripped them apart I should say. I recently added a pair of coral banded shrimp. They are aggressive enough to keep the pseudo at bay.

watch out for the banded coral, it will eat smaller fish if it can catch them. I have just recently sentenced one to death in my trigger tank for mauling an onyx perc

Wow, first time in all my years I've ever heard of that happening, and to a clown :eek1:

Frankly, I'm more worried about my pseudo finding one of the CBS during a molt.

Look at Brazilian Grammas. Theyre similar to the royal, but noticibly different.

Check out Pygmy Angels, Chalk Basslets, Blackcap Basslets, Yellow or Blue Assessors or some kind of wrasse.

Steer clear of the dottys - even my orchid is a mean SOB. He's chased shrimp OUT of my tank. He's really beautiful and adding him to an existing system wouldn't be bad, but if anything happens to your shrimp and you have to add new ones, look out!
