ive read and heard they are ok in groups if put in at the same time

depends if they have enough room -- I wouldnt try it in less than a 48inch tank

put alot of cliffs and over hangs w/ hiding spots --theyll be ok

theyll occassional get into squabbles and have torn fins though -- but it can be done

I tried 3 of them in a 6' long 110G tank. I added them all at once.
A week later, I only had one left.

sounds like you had three males. It's important to buy one fish that is larger than the others. This will turn the large fish into a male and insure the others remain female.
