15 min dip. 3 adults almost dead and falling rapidly to the bottom. better and faster than with coral rx and revive...

for the eggs no visible changes (before the dip left and after right)

gonna take some more pics in the coming days to see what happend with theses eggs...

the 3 colonies I have dipped have well tolerated the process
rinse them for 15-20 min in 4 gallons of saltwater (water form waterchange) with a powerhead and an aquaclear filter with carbon.

even with that 5 mins after putting them back in my frag tank got a couple of pods that wer floating !! may have to rinse more...

Thanks for the pics of this.
You mind showing a before and after dip picture of the colony in the tank? Just want to see how much the color/health has affected by this dip.

Thanks for sharing aqua80! This type of research you are conducting is a lot more modern than these companies saying that their product does what it says! The proof is in the pudding as I always like to say. If you still find eggs through vigerous dips, would you mind trying an extended time lapsed dip or exceed recommended dosage? Not a problem if you do not wish to do so. I would rather you not kill a coral for stupid research.

Im guessing they make their product less strong so consumers have to buy more for complete obliteration of eggs. business 101 haha :jester:

and in the frag tank after the dip, polyps a little retracted but I've just move it to take a pic and the frag tank is lit by leds (ai sol blue) vs mh/t5 in the display (were she was this morning)

I would not expect the eggs to vanish or explode with the dip, in fact I'm not sure what to expect :hmm4:, but at least that they don't hatch and dry out...

I know what hatched eggs looks like :

so I expect these to look different if it really works...

for reference unhatched eggs :

Maybe cut that branch of with the eggs and perform some tests with just that different dosages etc over a period of time? Idk just trying to come up with some ideas here

they seem quite clear.... and it looks like you have access to a scope... is it possible to just keep a daily record of changes on them? possible to see the larvae growing through treatment?

that's what I plan on doing, but I just have a 100mm macro lense... no scope !

maybe after that will come later if daily pics is not enough to show what is happening...

Good work mate! I lost the mimi colony today that I picked up for testing. Way infested.:thumbdown
Oh well I will just have to keep a close eye on this thread.

The real question is the eggs

Thanks for reviving my original thread! Why did it get shut down anyways? Anyone know?

You should shoot a PM to the mod that closed the thread if you want to know why. This thread has great potential and it would be ashamed if it get closed again if we keep looking back.

The dip solution doesn't seem to stain the coral. I think I like what I see. My biggest gripe with dipping incoming frags is that, it gets browned out for at least 2 weeks after the dip. This treatment seem to have minimal affect on the sps tissue color.
