Not calling this a "build" because it's more of an "assembly" which suits me just fine.....I hate plumbing more than almost anything.....And so, Away we go.....

1st, I am a commitment-phobic....so I decided that I wanted to put the tank on magic sliders. I didn't want to just put them under the tank, because last time I did that, I lost them mid-slide.

I bought I 2X2 piece of 3/4 birch ply and primed it with Kilz to seal it, and then painted it black to match the stand, and also to give a nice surface to attach the sliders.

I had gone to Home Depot to check them out, but they wanted $20 for a four pack of 3X3 sliders, and that was out of the question, as I wanted to cover the entire board....at that price it would have cost more than the tank, so.....On to Harbor Freight. I love this place, especially when I know I'm only going to need to use whatever it is once. They had a sale that day on the sliders and boxes with 4 7" sliders and 4 3" sliders for $3......DEAL! So I picked up four boxes and used 2 1/2 and I'll out the small ones, and the extra ones away in the junk drawer, that'll ensure I never see them again.

I glued the sliders on with white Gorilla Glue and weighted them down as I went. When they were lightly set, I flipped it over, covered it with cardboard and set some heavy weights on top of them (some of them were kind of warped, and I wanted them to glue down completely.

You can see my "light shield" I made out of foam board to keep the MH light out of my eyes when sitting on the couch. This is one of the leading reasons for moving to a new tank. Though I did like hiding my sump in the television part of the TV stand.

The lights are off, so everything is asleep, except for the clowns. The large rock on the left will sadly have to go. It's about 50lbs, and covered in blue ridge and and a pink encrusting beast. I love it, it's my favorite piece in the tank, but I'm probably going to move it and the clowns to their own tank. It's too easy for fireworms and bristleworms to hide in it, and it has a few hydroids on it. All bad for seahorses...so away it must go. I'll probably pull the zoas off of it and keep them in the horse tank...they shouldn't hurt anything.

New spot, that is not in my dining room.

Only up for 3 seconds, and already covered in dog/cat hair...BOO

This is all the other stuff I have to figure how to hook up this week....I'm sure Greg will be getting frantic emails because I've forgotten how he had it put together. Luckily, he gave me the manual, so it shouldn't be that bad. The hardest part is going to be getting power over there. The outlet on that wall is switched, and it controls our lights in the room. With the MHs I hate to run an extension cord too far.

First fish....
Just kidding, it's my teapot...which strangely I got before I got into reefing.

I'm also trying to figure out what to do with the chiller. it's basically a 14x14" box, and I'd put it in the stand, but it won't get enough circulation, so I might build a shell around it to hide it....or something.

More when I figure out what's going on.

Greg was running a Pacific Coast CL 280 on it, and I got it with the package. If I were to be buying one however, I would have gone with the SeaChill brand. I really like the idea of being able to incorporate a UV filter and a heater (I know...more stuff to fail) but it cleans it up for me so I don't have 87 tubes running in and out of this tiny tank. It also is one of the quietest units on the market and the tank is in my living room. However, Greg said this one ran really quiet too. Pull-down and consistency are what is really important for the set up I'm doing. Horses can really only tolerate a 4 degree range, and can't have their temp shift more than a degree over 24hrs...hence the chiller. I'll give you a better review once it gets up and running. Hopefully this weekend.

Are both plugs of the outlet switched? Sometimes they just have one switched and one always on.
