rubber o-rings?

Does HD/Lowes or a similar store have rubber o-rings? I need a big one for an adjustable collectioncup (5x7) and don't really want to pay for shipping on something like that if I can get it locally. Thanks

yeah but are they that big? 7"x5" is a pretty big o-ring... it'll probably be a 6" diameter one or something.

Nope - I changed my post after i saw the size. Another thought - what about some sort of farm supply place?

Looks like someone mentioned Ace. I have one of those here so maybe I'll call them in the morning to see if they do or not, then I can call the Murdoch's (ranch supply) here as well. I might end up having to use a rubber band!

Doug, I have a box that it would need to go around that is 5x6 5/8. If it's a little elastic, a little smaller will do, since I'd like it tight.

using the 2*pi*r method for finding perimeter... the perimeter i've got is 24, making r 3.8ish or equivelent to a 7.64" ring/pipe... so 7.5" or so if elastic I think would do it.

The one I have at home is 7 3/4"x 1/8", might work. Also look in the tool section, they might have large elastic bands the hold the filters in some shop vac's...

good call on that one. I'll let you know about yours. I'll try Ace first and hopefully I can get one locally. I appreciate the offer though! The 7 3/4 might be a bit too loose. I'm thinking a 7 1/2 stretched to the ~7 5/8 would do better.

If you have a diesel repair shop in your area you can prob find one there. The big diesel engines use a lot of big O-Rings.

Do you really ever move the cup up or down?
If not, you could always just glue a piece of acrylic around it and be done with it. That is what I done with both of my colection cups because I always had them set at the same point. It sure beats replacing them O-Rings

Well, it'll take some time to figure out the sweet spot I'm sure. once I find it I guess that's an option. But then again, I'll be playing w/ pumps and water/air flow so it may change over time. I do have diesel repair shops around here so that's an option as well. Thank you.
