Does anyone know if Rubber Roofing is Reef safe? I believe it is EPDM, which I *think* is safe. I know I have used it for years in my koi ponds, but I need a medium sized sump, and I figured build a plywood box, and throw this in for a liner... Whatchya think?

I think that alot of people use regular epoxy paint for wood tanks most of the time. If you do use it, make sure to get just plain paint, no mold prevention stuff.

Not sure on rubber roofing, but as long as it dose not have any additives, it should be ok. I would let it cure well and then soak it in some salt water for a week or two though.

EPDM form what I heard is safe. There was a link on baffless sump that talks about this. I asked a similar question and was told by people that it was safe.

edpm roofing is only guaranteed for 10 years installed, then you have the glew and primer and rocket strip or form flashing on the seams none of which are reef safe if you pig ear the corners it can solve the primerand rocket strip problem but..........
I live in maine and it dosn't last long on the coast the salt eats rite threw it I use it in a waterfall in the flower garden and it works fine with fresh water.
I say rubber maid dosnt meen edpm

I am sure the stuff I have is EPDM. I wouldnt need to sam it, I would just drop it into my form, and let the pressure of the water push it to shape. I guess I would need to know how long it would stand up to the SW though..

It will be fine. Just make sure it is pure EPDM and does not have a mildicide or other anti fungal product added to it (getting more common these days).
