So after some research and conversation with a few fellow reefers I have decided to pull the bio balls out of my canister filter and replace them with live rock rubble.

My question is if the rubble is continually under water from lfs to tank will there be any cycle to worry about.

im not real crazy about the canister filter but it is all I have for now.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you all

if there's no die-off, there'll be no cycle.

Simple solution is to just remove the canister filter from your system. Your live rock is your filter. You do not need the canister filter at all.

Although I agree with the above statement, situations vary. I ran my (very successful) 60g cube using a dual biowheel HOB and a canister filled with carbon and LRR for 22 years. The maintenance will become a PIA, but we do whats we gotta do.
