Rudie Kuiter's New Wrasse Book

I finally tracked down how to order this new Wrasses book. It is only printed in small orders and is not available from the typical sources. It is big and expensive, but sure beats a tie for Christmas. Can't wait to get it.

It has to be purchased directly from the author in Australia. He has it printed locally there as there is no major publisher. (No wonder I could not find it at Amzaon or any of the aquarium specialty places!) It is a shame as it looks like a pretty awesome book.

I traded emails with Rudie a couple of weeks ago and he was trying to finalize another small printing run. He said it might still be a few weeks. It is apparently very challenging and expensive to print such limited numbers. I am still waiting for mine, but if anyone has an interest, just PM me and I will send you his contact info.

I had not thought about an electronic version. I will have to ask him about that. Not a bad idea.

I believe the cost was expected to be around $375 (I assume AU$) plus shipping, but he is looking into that with a printer right now. I wish one of the publishing houses over here would pick it up, because I think the small print runs are an expensive option and take more effort for the number of copies produced.

I am not sure which species are from the Carribean, but the initial post has a pdf attachment of the book's index. It details the species covered so maybe you can tell from that.

Sounds a bit pricey to me, I have The Reef Fish series volume on Wrasses. Covers anything I'd ever see in a Reef Tank, though I know there are quite a few coldwater wrasses that were not covered.

I have it, contains all wrasses, including Caribbean ones, but only the ones described before 2005 when the book was written.
