Running PCI Chiller with ACIII

I was curious as to a safe way that I can Run my Pacific Coast imports Chiller with the ACIII... The Issue is the PCI chiller has a built in controller that controlls the Unit... Would like to have it on the ACIII when I get It however I am wondering about this issue...

Also with Heaters... Would one just turn the temp up past the tank temp and the AcIII will just turn it on and Off as needed?

Thanks agian,

Hi,

I have been doing that for a long time without any problems. I even asked a good friend of mine that works on industrial HVAC and he said that should not be a problem.

Yeah, just set it above the tank temperature so the controller can turn it on/off as necessary. That being said, i would only set it a few degrees above or below. The reason being is that if the controller malfunctions, at least you would have the built in controller as a backup. That of course is only if the malfunction results in the control module staying on all the time.

Sounds Good So Turn the chiller to lets say 70F and the Heater to 80F as I run my tank at 77F And let the Controller do the rest of the work for me?

Does that sound right?

Now if you run at 77f here's what i suggest. Turn your chillers controls to turn on at 3 degrees +/- to your target level. In your case i would say have it turn on at 80f and turn off at 74f. This is just a backup. Obviously with the controller you can set it to turn on/off to 1 degree. The reason i do this is because sometimes the chillers thermostat is not as accurate as the controller. It is affected sometimes by the flow going through it, the coils, etc.

Basically what i am saying is not to turn the dials on the chiller to the max and let the controller solely responsible for maintaining the levels. If the module fails in the on position, then the chiller will run until it meets the max levels that you set it at, and that would be a disaster.

I do this for both my heater and the chiller.
