Thank you Haplochromine, I try to clean the glass every day or so. The overflow gets cleaned about once every week or so too.

Thanks, Robot2222. Having a fish room for a tank is about as good as it gets IMO. No more trying to stuff things in a small spot in a cabinet under your tank. I also like being able to have a large sump. I think it makes a big difference in being able to keep my parameters stable than if I had a smaller sump, especially on a tank of this size.

Speaking of parameters, here are the latest as of last night:

pH ~ 8.21
Salinity ~ 1.026
Temperature ~ 81.0 F
Alkalinity ~ 9 DKH
Calcium ~ 400 ppm
Magnesium ~ 1350 ppm

All tests are done with Elos test kits.

Yes I am dosing Kalk and Alk via BRS dosers. Still trying to dial in how much a day to add. I actually just upped because I thought the same thing.

Thanks for the kind words and your vote. The other tanks were so amazing and I think they all have different things that make them special. And in the end it all comes down to personal preference. Once mine matures abit more I think it may have a better chance next time. :beer:

I love this skimmer too. SWC makes a great product and there a glowing reviews all over this site and others. It did a great job on my 90 gal and is now doing a great job on this tank. Plus I like that it is Canadian made!

Thanks 60G. I tried to make it so that there would be lots of water flow through and around the rocks. The fish really seem to like all the little caves and crevasses too.

How's the dottyback that got bit?

He/she has fully recovered and tail fin has completly regrown. I find it amazing that they can grow back like that. Imagine if we could do that after we lost a limb.
