Rust color forming??? Wth?

Ever since i got my sump running and water circulating...this stuff has accumulated on my rock...some of the dead choral i have....and its all over the sand making it look kinda blotchy. What the heck is this stuff and is it bad/good and do i need to do something about it?? Thanks!

Sounds like a diatom bloom. This is a stage that all tanks go through. Mine was cured when we went away for the weekend and I left the lights off. The diatoms were gone when we got home and never came back.

Try leaving your lights off for a couple of days.
