Rust on powder coated stand

Anyone wipe anything on their stands to prevent rusting? 700 gallon tank year old has a few rusts spots on the stand unfortunately. Was thinking some oil or paint. Thoughts please..

Do u try to get the rust off or just paint over?

You could sand the rust off, but regardless of what your father/grandfather may have taught you rust doesn't actually "spread". It's an oxidation process, and if you coat your steel such that oxygen can not get to it (ideally what powder coating is supposed to do), then it can't rust.

Paint it is... what about keeping it wiped down with say a stainless steel cleaner? Its basically wd40?

i use a wet sand papper block and give it a little rub with water.
Then i shop vac the dust up.
let it dry and repaint it.
After a year or so i give it a touch up.
