Rusty rocks

my new rocks have gone from having a ton of coraline to being a sort of brown rust coloration.

Do I need to worry about this?
what is going on?

did it come from low light to a lot of light?

It came from a 150 gal tank with 250 watt halides to a 90 gal with 260 watt PC...

If the rock was exposed to tank lights and air when moving them it will affect coraline too.

it was exposed to the air for about 2.5 hours driving down to columbia- i had it wrapped in wet newspaper though.

Anyone have any ideas? it is getting all my sand really nasty rust colored! I hate it!

I think it is a diatom bloom-- any help in getting rid of it?

Increase flow, check your parameters, and lesson the light time a couple of hours should help.
