roger i turn them off during feeding time, but when i turn them back on one always starts backwards, and i have to unplug and replug a few times to get it going forwards again. how can i stop this from happening.

How old is the pump? Have you taken out the drive unit and made sure the drive unit and pump are clean?

ALMOST 1YR OLD , CLEANED RECENTLY COULDNT GET BOTTOM WASHER OUT FROM BASE OF MOTOR. WOULD THIS CAUSE IT TO START UP BACKWARDS

The washer at the bottom should be very small, about 1cm in diameter, if what you are seeing is about double that the base of the propeller has sheared off. On older pumps the disk (washer) would accumulate some sand and sand through the drive unit over time. That is why we added a stainless steel washer. Please check.
