RyanGSP's 80G Build

I think a single MP40 would run this tank if it were Barebottom but with such a fine substrate I think once the 40 gets ramped up it will start sucking sand or air. The other thing thats crossing my mind is going with a custom 120 this fall so that would need 2x 40's or some tunze power for more punch.

With this right in the living room I need to be aware of noice and a big ugly motor off the side of the tank so tunzes look better and better but who knows. I am thinking of putting them on the euro brace so no cords in the water.

End of the Month update with bad news. Yesterday I awoke to 2 dead bodies in the tank. I lost the sickly little Dispar Anthias and my big male. All day I couldnt find the other 2 that were supposed to be left and now today still no sign. I think they are dead in the rocks as well. I did a water change on friday otherwise nothing was changed. All 4 were doing so well and eating like pigs. The little guy never really bulked up and had a sore so I thought maybe he was a goner but I never expected the other 3 to go too.

Now I need to find something to replace them with. I dont want to get Dispars again or Evansii anthias. I would like to find a nice schooling fish that are always in the open to add some movement. I am thinking maybe a 2M 3F school of flasher wrasses but I defiantly want to stay away from your common stuff like chromis. What do you guys think I should get?

I picked up a nice little plate coral this month as well. Nice orange with some light green flecks throughout. I think once I add the Royal Blue LED's this coral is really going to pop.

Now for some pictures.

Well IO suppose I should update this LOL.

I have since moved to a new house and although I still have the tank some things have changed.

First I ditched the Halides for a 6 bulb TEK fixture. I will be adding some ReefBrite LED's for color pop. A friend is ditching his halides for Radions and I would like to do the same in a year after they have bhad the bigs worked out of them and I can see what they do on his tank.

I lost about 6 pieces in the move unfortunatly and I am slowly getting pieces back as I remember who has them. I have added a bunch of new coral though so thats always a good thing.

I have added a bunch of new fish including
3x Neon Gobies (2 have paired off)
4x Bangaii Cardinals (2 pairs have formed and one pair has had to go into the frag section for their own safety)
1x Blue Assessor
1x Pylei Wrasse
1x Yashia Goby
1x McCosker's Wrasse

I would like to add a pair of Rhomboid Wrasses, a pair of Hawaiian Flame Wrasses, and a Goldhead Tamarin. I just got to find a place that has them and is willing to ship.

I have also ditched the Korlia and the MJ with Sureflow kit for 2x Tunze 6055's. I did have 2 MP10's but sold them because they were too noisy for the girlfriends liking.

Well I was checking out my aquarium tonight as I fed as usual and found this. Excuse the piece of styrofoam its in there until the epoxy cures.

I have noticed these guys flaring and twitching but I thought they were just being aggressive to each other after I removed the other 2 cardinals. I guess not!! So now its all research tonight in preparation for the new babies. I was planning on redoing the sump for a longer more narrow frag section (so I can use T5) but I had no idea I would need to be thinking of baby cardinals.

Umm yes and no.

I have a local store watching their lists for a pair or trio of Rhomboid Wrasses. I have heard these nems are fish catchers and really dont want my Rhomboids to be lunch.
If the store cant find them and I cant find the Rhomboids in Canada I may look into them again.

I am also waiting to see if my little frag tank sells. If it doesnt I may put a carpet in there but am still unsure if these clowns or new clowns will go with it.

Well I got my first batch tonight. There is a few out and the male is still holding. So far one is kinked and one never is DOA with a full egg sack showing.
