Hey everyone . I am in the process of figuring out what size steel I should use for a steel stand for a 6x2x2

I would like the stand to be 40" tall and have no front center brace if possible . Can I use a larger beam up front like a 3x1.5 beam so I can get away without a brace?

Also would 1.5" tubing work or should I get 2" tubing .

I have a 4x2x2 now that has no center front brace but it is also made from wood and 2x6.

The tank that will be on top of the stand will be acrylic.

TIA

i have a 98L x 30W tank. steel stand is 1/8" thick 1.5" tube steel. You will have to use a thicker steel to need no center brace. at least 3/8 but i a no expert, i had my stand made for me by SoCalCreations.. Randy there is the man to talk to about that stuff.

konadog also has a really nice stand.

I just made a 96x30x41, using 2" steel and 2"x4" steel along the 2 top supports. You might want to ask a welder to figure out the PSI of the stand using the weight of all your water, tank, rock.etc.

I had a welder recommend at least a 2x4 .120 wall top of the stand. I am going one step up and doing 2x5 @.120 wall.Price differenc was 12 bucks .
