Sad Frogspawn is Sad

So recently my 75 gal reef has been recovering from a nitrate spike, the levels are still high (around 20 ppm) but all my corals and fish are doing well, except for my frogspawn, he started making a recovery, but then tragedy struck as hair algae began growing on its polyps, Any solution ideas?

Try using a turkey baster to keep the hair alge off your Frogspawn along with placing your Frogspawn in a high flow area of your tank.

If hair alga is the problem than high flow will not help. I would try manually plucking it off. My frogspawn will not expand when it is in high flow and that will further the tissue recession that is allowing the alga to take hold. I would leave it where it is if it was happy before the nitrate issue(flow and light wise).

How do the polyps look, can you see flesh? Usually when a head of frogs pawn dies algae will sprout up within the coralites because the skeleton heads are full of 'nooks and crannies' that trap stuff which contributes to algal bloom, along with the rotting flesh of the polyp remaining if it died.

If its still alive, a soft to toothbrush can be used lightly as long as the polyp is fully retracted. I suggest doing this in a bucket of your saltwater outside of the tank. If its a dead head, that part should be removed as they tend to accumulate algae forever lol

I ran a toothbrush and got some of the algae off and that made it a bit happier, but the next morning the algae grew back
