Saddlebacks settled right in

New pair of ORA saddlebacks settled right in. Too bad I'll have to get rid of those BTAs whenever I get around to getting them a haddoni.

Are you sure? Would think they would stay brown. Back when I had my black pair, the smallest, was black at a tiny size;

Ah, guess you're right. I was unaware there was a brown variety. I assumed they were just in transition.

I like them--they're something different. Saddlebacks are one species I don't see very often. Are they harder to breed than other clowns, or just not as popular?

I get the impression they're just not as popular, since they're not as bright as many others, nor are they "designer" clowns.

Both.
For a long time no one could breed them. It is still pretty hard to find a CB black morph saddleback.
One reason for their lack of popularity is that they get quite large and the bigger they get the uglier and meaner they get. As babies they are cute as heck though.
