My family is in Florida and my daughter found this hermit crab in the Gulf. She wants to know if I want it for my tank.

I've never added anything that I've collected myself, so I'm a little hesitant.

Think it will be OK?

Although I personally don't care I'm sure there are laws against collecting wildlife and keeping it without permits. It may also not be a sea Bering hermit crab

I wouldn’t want it my tank. Probably kill snails and maybe even attack fish.

I brought a couple home years ago before I knew any better. Never bothered anything but they were pretty small. Your mileage may vary, so probably better they left it there.

I convinced her that everything she found needed to stay in the gulf. She found an Olive snail which is pretty cool, but when I read that their favorite food is Nassarius snails, I told her to leave it there.

My wife said they were trying to catch a baby Amberjack for me at one point. I told them it was probably good they were unsuccessful.

Now, if I got to Hawaii next spring...
