Safe to move a single polyp from a plug to a rock?

I recently tried moving a single polyp that I found floating in my tank (broke from a group on a frag plug) to a rock. It didn't make it :(

Is it ever safe to do this or should you only try to move more established groups from a plug to a rock?

Interested also. I got one on a plug that is loose and I was gonna glue it to a rock.

Don't hold your breath. I've found some questions here go painfully unanswered while others like "my clownfish freikked out yo!" get 27 replies.

For the number of members here, it's frustrating for a new member like me to get zero replies to (IMO) valid questions.

I haven't personally glued a single polyp to my rock work... But I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be ok... I usually have better results in fragging when I frag multiple polyps vs single ones...

It can be done. Obviously larger frags have a better chance of surviving and multiplying compared to a single polyp

You can do it, but when it is just the polyp nothing attached to it and then you glue to a rock try to put in an area where there isn't a lot of flow so it has a better chance of staying there. When they're singles they're more likely to melt or get free of the glue and float away.

I would never try to move a single polyp from a plug to rock unless unless attached already to a small piece of live rock on the plug. If there is no liverock and its glued right on to the plug bandsaw would be the safest. Shave the top of the plug off with the zoa and than shave down the sides until your happy with whats left.
