I get about 40 hours of a 12Ah battery from my local batteries plus. I have a honda generator, so that is plenty of time for me to get home and switch it over. Bigger would last longer, but by then I think your tank would have frozen or cooked.
I think I put a link in this thread to the charger I got off ebay for $28 shipped, it supposedly water proof:
kfick, thanks for the battery backup info. I was just wondering what settings you had the 6055 set to for your 40 hour test on a 12 Ah battery? Was it set to 12V? Did you have it on a controller or was it just running at a constant speed?
I've got a Xantrex PowerSource 400 with a 40 Ah battery that I need to test with my 6055 now that hurricane season is upon us. I first tested it with a MJ 900 and got just over 36 hours.
The 6055 will run at the voltage supplied to it. So that would be the minimum speed with 12v. Same as choosing the 12v setting on the driver. If you wanted full speed, you could hook up 2 12v batteries in parallel for 24 volts.
