Sail fin tang

His fins all the row of spotlights/whatever they are running along the top from front to back?

If you are referring to the fins on the top, from my experience they are stressed if they are up. My regal and sailfin used to open them right up to make themselves bigger when they were stressed or scared.

I'm with Steve, my Desjardini only has his fins up when he is having some type of fight between him and another tang

Our Sail Fin Tang will Raise his up while is swimming around and around and Around into the Current in the Pond.. We put netting above the tank because a few of them skim the surface was afraid he will sail outta the tank...

But when he was smaller and in the reef tank i agree its a IM BIGGER THEN YOU THING..

Glad I'm not the only one. So basically dlanciloti, if they are down most of the time, he's happy and isn't feeling threatened. Don't worry.

Well is it the same case for yellow tang, too?

I recently added a sailfin tang in my tank which has a yellow tang for last 3 months+.

I thought the sailfin fins not opening means he/she stressed.

My yellow tang seldom opens the fins when in still position, but during swimming, opens the fins quite often, you mean its stress?

I wouldn't have thought so so unless he lifts them and then keeps them up. It is a defensive think to have them up and keep them up. So if it's only fluttering up and down, I'd imagine he/she is perfectly fine.
