salfin blennie question

hey guys my blennie is awesome...eating like a pig, but not doing what i bought him for which was to eat hair algae.....yea i know everybody tells me they cant believe it but it's true.....anything i can do or should i just trade him in for another with a LFS or one of ya guys?

I'm thinking he likes the food you put in the tank better than the hair algae!

actually i dont think so....he loves all the other algae and stuff in my tank lol

Are you sure its a salfin I believe they don't eat hairalge. That would me a lawnmower blennie that eats the stuff.

Yeah that's the one. I think there is 5 dif salfin blennies out there. Lownmower/algae is what eats HA. Maybe he is eating it just not when you are around. Because she is waiting on you to feed the tank. And also It will take some time to see any dent in the HA. but the HA grows faster then she can eat. Stop feeding your fish for a day or 2. She'Ll eat more of the hairalgae.

Once ur tank is stablized, u will not have the ha problem.
How are you treating your nitrate and phosphate?

the main problem was all the time i spent using tap water on my tank because in the last few weeks since i been putting in low ppm ro water into the tank rather then the 100 or so ppm i was doing,my hair algae to me at least looks like it isnt growing in as fast and i use phosguard....according to my tests and AC i dont have nitrates so it's just phospate for the most part that is feeding my HA.....i'd love to not feed my tank but you should see gloria (female clown) she doesnt stop wanting to eat, melmon (male clown) hardly gets any food and mr. poopers (blennie) all he does is what his name states lol and honestly i've seen poopers bite and spit out my HA so i dont know lol

Best to save up for that RO/DI unit. I bought a lawn mower blenny before that did NOT touch hair algae....

yeah i been using ro water and my supply of pre filters and di resin should be in soon so i can get even better water going into the display
