Salifert ALK kits (BAD)

Anyone else caught up in this mess? Seems ALLOT of batches are bad going back to the beginning of the year.

Nope. But something good did come of it.

I needed to replace my salifert alk test kit because I had used it up. Since the recall, no one stocks them. So I decided to try a lamotte test kit.

Now, Im replacing all of my test kits with lamotte.

Yay lamotte.

I was an avid user or Lamotte back in the 80's and early 90's. Since getting back in I found everyone using Salifert and the price was good. I still use Lamotte for PO4 but it looks like i will be going back on all kits.

YEP, I got a bad ALK and CAL kit. I almost overdosed my tank on Calcium a little while ago when I bought them.

RUT ROH , i just bought a CA kit. hope it is not bad although I was supprised to see my CA being so perfect.

My first two Salifert Alk tests were bad (different batches). I'm not sure about my Ca one.

I am using up the tail end of an older Salifert Alk kit. Tested both systems tonight, and cross-tested with a Lamotte Alk kit, and both brands tested out very close to one another. I will certainly check the new Salifert Alk kit that I haven't opened yet when the time comes. Apparently, the latest version comes with a reference sample, so that should help alleviate some of the QC concerns.

I ordered it from Premium Aquatics, as I do with most of the dry goods I buy. Shipping from Indy is relatively quick (3 days usually), and they have great service.
