Salifert Nitrate test kit

I am using the salifert nitrate test but not sure I am reading the end result correct. After the 3 min wait for the end result I place the vial on the color chart. With a quarter of the bottom on the color bars I try to match the mix with the bar. I go with the bar that I can barely see thru the mix. Does anyone use this kit if so how do you read it am I reading it right? TIA

I use the nitrate Salifert test, and agree, it is a tough test... What type of lighting are you measuring your readings in. I find it best to use natural daylight. Try another test, and match your results. How high are your nitrates testing, based on your best guess?

plyle02 that's thanks in advance I have used the daylight and also florescent with the same results. Last wk testing was done in the morning and I ran test tonight both were at 2.

I use the salifert test kit. All you do is place the vial on the white part of the card and compare the colors. I wouldnt over lap the vial with the colors on the chart. Like the kit says if your reading that way is less than 10 you can hold the with the card on the side of the vial and look thru the side to get your low range measurement.
