Yeah I love La Motte, but they can be expensive. I really like seachem because I think the reference samples they provide are really great to have. Why test for anything if you can't calibrate your test kit? With the seachem test I can also check to see if my kit is off with the reference solution. With my salifert PO4 kit, I was NEVER able to get a positive reading no matter what I tested (tap water or even diluted skimmate!)

This is recently just happened with me. I got a bad batch of Salifert. It always read at 8.5 dKH. All my monti were dying slowing. Then I tested with API it changed color at 7. I was very upset. Now I'm trying Elos and probably will stick with API for a while.
