Salinity and PH Probes Calibration (Controller)

Hi All,

Thinking of getting a controller with salinity and ph probes. Do these need to be calibrated frequently, or do you just calibrate the first time and are good to go for years?

Thanks,

Anyone? I'm looking at the new Apex controller to make things easier and wondering if I'll need to calibrate the probes constantly. Thx

I don't have an apex but I would suspect it would need calibrating on occasion. The probes I use at work we calibrate daily. The pH meter I have at home I would calibrate before each use when I used it.

A lab grade pH probe should go a couple of months without calibration when it is new, but will need more frequent calibration as it ages. Standard grade pH probes usually need monthly calibration to stay accurate, although unless you are running a calcium reactor or using ozone pH is not really all that critical. I calibrate my salinity probe about every three months, but it does not seem to vary much during that span.
