Sally Lightfoot Crab

I'm considering getting one of these crabs since they look prettier than the others and seem to be more active.
I understand crabs are 'opportunistic eaters' and may not be 100% reef safe, but is this crab any worse than other crabs like Emeralds? I have tons of hermits & 1 Emerald in my 55G and none have caused any problems with snails or anything else.
My plan is to drop a pellet or two so it won't get so hungry it starts eating live stuff. Does this plan make sense?

Yes, this sounda fine to me. I have had mine for almost a year and he/she has not bothered a thing. Mine eats all around the rock picking at it for food has not bothered corals other than climbing on some polyps and never caused any harm. Sometimes will pick food from my sunpolyps, but most of the time just eats what floats near it or off rocks.

Same here. Awesome scavenger. The best crab hands down.
