Salt creep

Good morning R/C how do I stop salt creep from getting on my lights and walls?

Don't butt the tank up to the wall. I leave at least a 6" gap back there.

As for the lights, make sure to reduce any splashing or bubbles in the tank. It will eventually happen.

But you still want your surface tension to be agitated. This helps reduce surface scum buildup that blocks light and helps gas exchange for oxygen and CO2.

Lots of agitation and 0 salt creep/spray on my LED fixture as you can see here. They've been there around a year I think now and haven't cleaned them.

The same way you stop your water from evaporating away: you don't, or at least not completely. It's just a natural process you have to keep up with as Gator said above.

I get a little creep and just wipe down my lights at water change time and spray off the egg crates too.

As for surface agitation, I have seen much bigger PH swings when the family is in the house. This past week I was on vacation for a week with the 3 dogs and family away. The PH swings were half the range of what it normally is. It was also .10-.15 higher than average. Thanks Apex! (Assuming cO2 in the air from all the breathing). Surface agitation is an important thing is all I'm saying. :). DISCLAIMER: I'm no expert!

Take care,
Matt
